| YES I know many gardeners who were Ed’s friends who would probably donate plants and energy to a view park in Ed’s memory! We had already spoken amongst ourselves a bit about a memorial marker where he was killed, but I would love to see something more significant (perhaps a native CA planting would appeal to many?). I can talk to my neighbors and friends to raise awareness and/or money for the park if it really can happen. - 8-08-06 |
| The only evidence I have of this is firsthand in that I have been in several new and used cars being test driven by the dealership employees (Acura specifically) who drove us up Snake road to Skyline and scared the crap out of me as a passenger with their speed and recklessness...my dumb boyfriend at the time was thrilled with their willfully irresponsible driving and I believe it helped sell the car to him (based on the handling?!). This happened with several of his friends as well...all men in their 20’s looking to buy sports cars. I have never asked any of my other friends if this has happened to them and honestly haven’t thought of it since it happened...until Ed’s senseless death. Anyways, car salesmen are not the only ones up here driving recklessly since I have been almost hit head-on by some of my cell-phone wielding, huge SUV-driving neighbors who don’t know how big their cars are and seem to not even care about the lives they endanger, including perhaps their own. -- 08-08-06--- kekky@pacbell.net - Kelly De Martini |
| Date: 4/11/06 To: Councilmember Jean Quan's office, April 2006 From: Skyline Blvd. Area Neighborhood Group Re: dangerous and ongoing speeding problems in the Skyline Blvd & Castle region. [see letter] (author wishes to remain anonymous) Response: 4/12/06: Lt Green requested a radar trailer from Sgt. Melara. April 12, 2006 : RN, Piedmont Pines Board of Directors And: I also wanted you to know that at the Montclair Safety and Improvement Council meeting tonight, I will propose this as one of our monthly priorities for traffic enforcement. Each area (Montclair in our case) gets to post three crime priorities and three for traffic. I will nominate this Skyline stretch for close monitoring for the mid-April to mid-May list. Unless there are competing priorites and this doesn't make the top three, you should see increased patrol along this stretch for those 30 days. With Lt. Green now in charge of this division, my hope is we'll get better response and better feedback. |
Date: 5/13/2003 To: Lt. Lawrence Green, Oakland Police Department Re: Traffic Safety and Speeding Issues on [see letter] *petition was signed by 20 neighbors along Skyline in 2003. Sent to Jean Quan and OPD. There was some increased patrols for awhile, but nothing lasting. Imagine a petition with all of Skyline Blvd involved... |
