This site was "born" from a tragedy that has befallen Mr. Weiss (see link). Although the conditions that led up the tragedy were know to many of us for years, we believe that this event should be the rallying point for action, leading us to work towards prevention of any future incidents and improvement public safety in general.
Further as unabated dangerous conditions along the Skyline corridor have been common knowledge, we are now working with OPD and Traffic Planning to effect changes. An integrated OPD program focuses on Education, Enforcement and Engineering which is now launched as of 8/05/06 with a goal to mitigate the problems on Skyline. Traffic planning has installed new signs in the last few days as well and are studying the possibility of other engineering changes in the area.
This website was created as a gift to the the community, and is solely for the purpose of increasing awareness of issues related to the Skyline Corridor, initially focusing on traffic safety. There are no google ads here or plugs to purchase something from our sponsors. Other topics envisioned fire prevention crime prevention, viewpoint developments on trails, community improvements. Proposals will be added as interest and involvement do directs the evolution of this initial initiative.
We anticipate the possibility of creating a public-private partnership that can eventually influence changes in local government services to improve services and reduce costs as well as potentially develop community improvement projects.
There is no budget involved here, only our time trying to make a difference thus far.
this is about making our neighborhood a better place to live.
