Ed Weiss
Ed Weiss, an avid cyclist for years, was hit by a motorcycle while biking on Skyline Boulevard Saturday midafternoon. Ed died on 7/30 4:30AM in Highland Hospital, never regaining consciousness.

Initial Police reports and witness indicates the motorcycle was passing a car at high speed, went over the double yellow line and ran into Ed. the motorcyle was riding in a group of 2-3.

Please pass this on to all cyclists and others who may have known Ed. Ed was a beautiful person and loved to bike more then just about anything. Please also lete bike shops, cycling clubs and fellow cyclists about this tragic event.

There have been efforts for years to stop the speedway by motor vehicles up there, please don't let Ed's death go in vain. His death has already triggered signficant local activity among concerned citizens. Citizen groups are now working in partnership with OPD, traffic planning, the area supervisor's office to explore solutions for the conditions that led to the accident.

The Funeral: This was held on Sunday August 6th 11am Colonial Chapel 2626 High St at Brookdale in Oakland, internement at Fairfax cemetary.

Ed Weiss died in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 30, 2006, twelve hours after being struck down by motorcycles while riding his bicycle on Skyline Boulevard in Oakland. Mr. Weiss never regained consciousness. He was riding in his own lane and was killed by the negligence of the drivers of the oncoming motorcyclist(s). As a concerned resident of Oakland, I am writing to request that the driver of the motorcycle and any other parties involved in the cause of this accident be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and that there be no delay in filing charges against them.
